Motivational Interviewing (MI)

Alissa is highly skilled in using Motivational Interviewing techniques while counselling clients, and works with them to develop simple, tailored and lasting nutrition care plans.

Alissa utilizes motivational interviewing principles in her care in order to ensure the client is driving the health behaviour change, and that her care plans are tailored to the needs of each client. Alissa constantly goes above and beyond for her clients and “thinks outside the box” to develop effective and sustainable care plans.​

Authorship & Research

  • Alissa believes in providing up-to-date, evidence based recommendations, which led her to pursuing first-author publications in the areas of Energy Expenditure and Body Composition.

  • In 2016, Alissa accepted a part-time position at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine, as a part of the Nutritional Medical Education Advisory Committee (content development for the Foundations Curriculum) and co-lecturer for first year medical students (Lifestyle Medicine, Nutrition in Infancy and Beyond).

Elisa Porretta

Clinical and Research Manager 

  • As an aspiring dietitian, Elisa is currently enrolled in the Nutrition and Food program studying at Toronto Metropolitan University. She completed the Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle Promotion diploma program and earned a certificate for the Wellness Coaching program at Humber College.

  • Assists with directing clinic flow, and oversees projects related to expanding and integrating educational resources and evidence-based clinical guidelines. 

  • Involved in the development of complex patient care plans, and tailored meal plans. Co-facilitates and co-designs educational workshops for various organizations and corporate seminars.

  • Builds partnerships with other healthcare care providers and community members to offer a more holistic approach for client services through collaborative workshops and media outreach.
